PALETA Cold-Pressed Organic Juice Detox Review

Due to long hours at work I have been falling back into horrible eating habits. I decided that a juice detox would be the perfect way to get myself back on track. Normally when I do a juice cleanse or detox it is with the intention to lose weight. Since that was not my goal this time I decided not to weigh before or after the two day detox.
Once I decided this was what I wanted to do I knew the juice detox would come from PALETA. I have tried a lot of juices that are available from Earth Fare and Whole Foods, but it has been hard to find anything that compares with the juices from PALETA. My first experience with them was in November when I tried their Get Glowing! Beauty Detox. I really loved that program, but this time I wanted something a little different. I decided to design my own detox by selecting one day of their Green Detox and one day of their Root Detox. Based on the descriptions of each detox I felt these would help me achieve my goal.

Since I do not live in PALETA's local delivery area the juices were shipped to me overnight via FedEx. The package reached me around 10 Tuesday morning. When I opened the package I saw that PALETA had included a small cooler and personalized menu cards for each day of the detox.  I absolutely love that they take the time to do this for each customer. It is something very simple but it makes me feel special.

My plan for the first day was the Green Detox. Since I received my juice at 10 AM on Tuesday I had a late start on the day. Upon opening the box I immediately started drinking the Sonic Tonic. The Green Detox contains the following juices:

Sonic Tonic – collard greens, spinach, romaine, celery, pear, cucumber, lemon
Kale Kooler – jicama, pineapple, kale, cilantro, serrano, limeRed Roots – beet, carrot, apple, lemon, gingerSonic Tonic – collard greens, spinach, romaine, celery, pear, cucumber, lemonMagic Milkshake (vanilla) – almond, cashew, coconut, date, vanilla bean, salt, cinnamon, nutmegCarrot Cocktail – carrot, yam, turmeric, ginger, lemon

The combination of flavor in each PALETA juice is quite unique. Everything blends together well in their juices, and while some do have one ingredient that stands out none are overpowering. I have desperately looked for local substitutes, but so far nothing has proven to be their equal.

Another special touch from PALETA is what I like to call the "Drink Me!" sticker. Each bottle has a sticker that lets you know what time you should start drinking it. This really helps you keep on schedule. It also helps make it easy to know what bottle to grab next. Each time I open a new bottle I can't help but think of Alice in Wonderland and smile. I'm not sure if this was intentional, but I love it!

I would be lying if I said that getting through even one day of a juice detox was easy for me. It never has been, and maybe it never will be. The beauty of PALETA is that if you can make it to your 5 PM Magic Milkshake then all your suffering will have been worth it.  The Vanilla Bean Magic Milkshake is the most amazing drink I have ever had. It tastes like it should be horrible for you. If I could make this at home I would feel like the luckiest person in the world. It is that amazing.

My last juice of the day was at 7 and by 9 PM I was ready to crawl in bed. While consuming only juice can make you feel amazing, it can also leave you feeling exhausted. Plus, I really wanted to speed time along so that I could get to Wednesday, 5 PM, and my next Magic Milkshake.

Wednesday was my Root Detox day. I selected this for my second day because the Root Detox is supposed to promote balance and was designed to help clear your mind and body. The Root Detox contains the following juices:

Red Roots – beet, carrot, apple, lemon, ginger
Sonic Tonic – collard greens, spinach, romaine, celery, pear, cucumber, lemon
Carrot Cocktail – carrot, yam, turmeric, ginger, lemon
Red Roots – beet, carrot, apple, lemon, ginger
Magic Milkshake (vanilla) – almond, cashew, coconut, date, vanilla bean, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg
Apple Orchard – green apple, red apple, lemon, ginger

Making it through the second day was very tough. I did not realize that I would get a little tired of beet juice until I hit my third Red Roots juice in two days. However, knowing that my favorite would be following two hours later helped me through.

The Root Detox and my entire detox ended with a bottle of Apple Orchard. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this juice. It really was refreshing and soothing, and it was a great end to this experience.

Today I feel refreshed. I was obviously hungry when I woke up, but I was actually able to stop and consider what would be a satisfying and healthy breakfast. Doing this detox really broke the bad cycle I was in. It was exactly what I was hoping to accomplish, and I truly feel better than I did two days ago.

If you are serious about trying a juice detox I would strongly recommend choosing one from PALETA. It is pricey, but you should not let that get in the way. PALETA's quality backs up the price, and the flavors make me want to move across the country to their local delivery area.
